Hello, lovely humans who have come to visit, my blog that is. My name is Reid Caelum. I am interested in minimalism and sustainable living. I like fantasy books and movies, like Lord of the Rings and Harry Potter, I’m a proud Hufflepuff. I listen to rock, metal, and alternative music. Though, I like a good calming playlist too. Now that you know a little about me here is my story.
I have been on my minimalism journey for about 5 years now and I have learned a lot. I first became interested in minimalism when I stumbled on it on YouTube. Though, I’m not sure how I got to it. I became obsessed right away. As someone with a low level of OCD, I found it to be very helpful with my need for things to be clean.
I started out doing a major declutter. This image here is of my first declutter back in 2017 when I was still living with my parents. That’s right all this stuff was from one room. I can only imagine if I had kept going at the rate. I when through everything and some of the stuff I share with my sister so it was a bit of a combined effort.
Sense then I have done a few more major declutter. None of them have been as big as the first though. I tend to do a big declutter about once a year, with some smaller once throughout the year.
I have been researching zero waste living for 3 years now. But I was not able to do much for the first year or so because I was living with my stepdad. Then I moved into my first apartment and finally, I had a say in the things I bought. I tried to buy things in recyclable packaging the best I could. I didn’t have a car and the closest store was Target, so I did all my shopping there. I would shop and when I got home transfer all the things I could into jars and immediately recycle as much of the packaging as I could. It wasn’t great but it was the best I could do.
Since then I have moved in with my girlfriend who is not a minimalist or a zero-waste person. This has created some frustration on my part because I am now used to doing things my way. But I shall adept and find a way to live together comfortably.
